Janis Bianchi papers, 1972-1997 (bulk 1989-1997)

Records retained by Bianchi during the time she was involved with various lobbying organizations. The documentation provides insight into the issues of the day and into all aspects of the political process, from drafting initiatives to fund-raising, from identifying sympathetic members of the legislature to choosing the most effective method of loggying. As a board member, she collected minutes and agendas of the organizations and also kept the notes made on issues before the board, correspondence, internal memoranda, and financial reports. The collection has several drafts of the same initiative, copies of court cases and information from other states on relevant issues together with results of surveys of members of the state legislature. The Privacy Fund documentation is illustrative of the methods of fund-raising and constraints placed on that process.
